Sew with Confidence – Beginner Machine Sewing Course in Brighton

Want to make your own clothes, home furnishings, or gifts but don’t know where to start? This workshop is the perfect introduction for adults who want to feel confident using a sewing machine, whether you have never used one before or if you are feeling a bit rusty. You will learn the basics step by step, and leave with the skills to keep sewing at home.

What You’ll Learn

• Thread and operate a sewing machine safely and confidently, including winding a bobbin.
• Explore basic settings, stitch types, and tension.
• Practise sewing both straight and curved seams.
• Troubleshoot common problems, because mistakes are part of learning.

In addition, we will give plenty of demonstrations and tips so you understand not only what to do but why it matters.

Use Our Machines or Bring Your Own

We provide reliable sewing machines for all participants. However, if you prefer, you can bring your own sewing machine so you feel comfortable using it at home afterwards. We will help you get set up and make sure you feel confident with your own equipment.

Everything Included

We provide all of the fabric, thread, and tools. Therefore, you only need to bring yourself and your enthusiasm. We will also give you a printed handout so that you can refer back to the key points once you’re practising at home.

Who Can Join

This workshop is designed for complete beginners as well as anyone who may have sewn in the past but feels a little rusty. Because we guide you step by step, you build confidence quickly. By the end of the two sessions, you will take home your projects, your handout, and a real sense of achievement.

Why Join Us

Learning to sew gives you practical skills, but it also gives you the freedom to create. You can save money by repairing or improving items, or design something personal for yourself. We believe that since sewing is mindful as well as useful, you will leave feeling relaxed, proud, and ready to keep stitching.

Cancel up to 7 days in advance via the website for a full refund. We cannot offer refunds after that point, for missed sessions, or for arrivals more than 20 minutes late. If you have food preferences or accessibility needs, please tell us in advance so we can make your visit as smooth as possible.

All workshops are beginner-friendly unless stated otherwise, and we provide all the materials you need. Adult sessions are for ages 16+, teen classes for ages 11–16, and family workshops for ages 7+ with an accompanying adult. Everything you create is yours to take home.
