Introduction to Linocut Printing Workshop
Learn the Basics of Linocut Printing
Join this beginner linocut workshop in Brighton and discover printmaking step by step. First, explore the different types of lino and see how each carving tool works. Then, learn how to transfer an image onto a block and understand how carving into positive and negative space changes your design.
Practise and Experiment with Confidence
Next, warm up with a practice block. You’ll make marks, test carving depths, and try textures before creating your main piece. At the same time, you’ll practise inking and registration so you can see how the whole process connects. As a result, you’ll feel more confident and ready to carve.
Create Your Main Design with Support
After that, move on to your main lino block. Start by planning your design, then carve it using the techniques you’ve already tried. Because this is a small group, you’ll receive plenty of one-to-one support as you carve, ink, align, and print.
Print and Take Home Your Artwork
Finally, use your carved block to pull a series of prints. You can also experiment with colour, layering, or even simple monoprints. By the end, you’ll take home original artworks that you carved, inked, and printed yourself—ready to frame, gift, or display.
Everything You Need Is Included
We provide all the tools and materials, so you don’t need to bring anything. In addition, this class suits complete beginners, but it also works as a creative refresher for anyone who has tried linocut before.
