Lunchtime Play in Brighton: Botanical Printing
Discover the surprising colours hidden inside flowers and leaves in this relaxed 90-minute creative session.
Using fresh flowers, petals, and foliage, you’ll explore a simple botanical printing and pounding technique that transfers natural pigments directly onto paper and fabric. As the colours and shapes are revealed, each print becomes a unique record of the plants you’ve chosen.
We’ll experiment with a variety of flowers and leaves, discovering how different plants produce different colours, patterns, and effects. You’ll have the opportunity to try multiple combinations and create a collection of botanical prints while learning how to get the best results from different materials.
We’ll also discuss the simple tools and materials needed to continue botanical printing at home. Most can be found around the house or in the garden, making this an accessible and enjoyable craft to explore on your own.
This Creative Play session is all about curiosity, experimentation, and enjoying the process. No artistic experience is needed, and every print will be completely unique.
You’ll leave with a selection of your botanical prints, ideas for future projects, and the confidence to continue experimenting with flowers and foliage at home.
